Mysteries of the Divine Liturgy
On March 3 2012 Sri Swami Vishwananda gave a very special sermon as part of a liturgy, explaining the deeper meaning of receiving the communion
Before Swami talked, we read the following part from the Gospel: John 1:43-51, in which Jesus finds Philip, and then Philip finds Nathael.
The initial part was not recorded properly, so find the transcription upto the point the audio file begins:
“Philip is asking: Who is Jesus? Is he really the Son of God, is he really the Messias for who we are waiting, of who the prophets have spoken? All these doubts are normal, at the beginning of the spiritual path, the path of searching, it’s normal that questions arise, but when questions arise you have to ask for an answer from people who know the answer. You have to ask people who are not deluded themselves. If you are already in illusion through the mind, and you go and ask somebody else who is in illusion, it’s like asking a blind man for the way. Here Nathael is asking Philip, Philip who has not a single doubt that Christ is the Messiah. Well, he didn’t need to say it, cause Christ called him, and said, you proclaimed to me that I am the Son of God, when you were talking under the fig tree…”
